Besides, this system also announced the list of 10 safest airlines in the world in 2022. The names mentioned (in order from highest to lowest) include New Zealand Air, Etihad Airways , Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, TAP Air Portugal, SAS, Qantas, Alaska Airlines, EVA Air, Virgin Australia.
This assessment is based on key factors such as: the accident and serious incident records of 385 airlines, the age of the aircraft as well as Covid-19 prevention measures and innovation in operation.
Geoffrey Thomas, a representative of AirlineRatings, said the past two years have been difficult times for airlines around the world because of Covid-19. Therefore, in this ranking, aviation experts focus on scoring the factor: retraining of pilots before returning to duty. Air New Zealand is a leader in the field with comprehensive retraining. In addition, the airline also achieved excellent results when it came to the fewest incidents, the improvement in performance and the very low age of the aircraft.
Launched in 2013, AirlinesRatings, based in Australia, is one of the world's most prestigious airline rating organizations. The airline also provides information on air travel, answering all questions related to this field. The company's reports and research and publications have the same weight as Skytrax, an award-giving organization that is considered the Oscar of the aviation industry.
