North - South train in the top of the world's train experience

Canada magazine lists 10 most impressive night train journeys in the world, including the North - South train of Vietnam.

According to The Travel, a prestigious Canadian travel magazine, trains are quite popular means of transportation. By train, tourists save money. This is also a means of combining two criteria: accommodation and means of transportation. On long journeys, the train is seen as a mobile accommodation. The Travel lists 10 night trains that make travelers sleep well, whether it's a luxury experience in first class or economy class.

In the top 10, the North-South train ranks 9th, one step above the train experience from Paris, France to Venice, Italy. According to the magazine's description, Vietnam is a favorite stop for Western backpackers when traveling around Southeast Asia.

The North-South train route that takes passengers from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City costs from 26 USD (600,000 VND) for a journey lasting from 30 to 37 hours. Guests can choose between classes of seats, from hardwood to soft air-conditioned seats, air-conditioned 6-bed cabins and the most expensive 4-bed air-conditioned cabins. Taking the train is the right choice to explore a long and narrow country, besides riding a motorbike.

Topping the list is the train from Cusco to Arequipa, Peru thanks to the impressive landscape of the Andes that visitors can enjoy during the journey. The train has a lounge car, a high-class restaurant car, an observation car and a spa car. The luxury train starts at $3,940 per person.
