The Vietnam Tourism Development Capability Index in 2021 ranked 52nd and increased the highest in the world.
According to the latest report of the World Economic Forum (WEF), Vietnam's Tourism Development Capacity Index (TTDI) in 2021 increased by 4.7%, ranked 52nd, 8 places higher than in 2019 (ranked 60). Among the 117 countries ranked, Vietnam's increase was the highest.

The highest rated indicators of Vietnam are competitive prices (rank 15), security and safety (rank 33), ground transport infrastructure and airports (rank 15). . In addition, Vietnam also scored for natural environmental resources (ranked 24), entertainment and resort resources (ranked 29). However, the report also pointed out some weaknesses of Vietnam such as tourism infrastructure (86th), priority for tourism (87) and environmental sustainability (94).
TTDI is an upgrade of the WEF's Tourism Competitiveness Index, based on the new post-Covid-19 context. The index is ranked based on 5 main groups including Operating Environment, Supporting Policies and Conditions, Infrastructure, Drivers of Tourism Demand, and Tourism Sustainability. Besides Vietnam, Indonesia also increased by 3.4%, ranked 44th and Saudi Arabia increased 2.3%, ranked 33rd. In Asia, Malaysia dropped 9 levels to 38th place. India dropped 8 levels to 54.
According to the Tourism Information Center, the National Administration of Tourism, the report reflects the achievements in disease prevention in Vietnam. Besides, there is a decision to restore tourism and reopen all domestic and international tourism after the epidemic is under control.
