The percentage of lung cancer patients in Vietnam who smoke is nearly 97 per cent and smoking is one of the leading causes of serious illness leading to death, with about 40,000 people dying of tobacco-related health issues, according to the Ministry of Health. The ministry is committed to accompanying Hanoi as well as other cities in promoting activities to raise awareness about the harm of tobacco and build a smoke-free environment. The campaign aims to provide visitors with a smoke-free tourism environment and prevent them from experiencing the negative impacts of cigarette smoke on health, thus allowing them to enjoy their Vietnam holiday in Hanoi.
