Aside from the beautiful mountainscape and caves in Trang An and Tam Coc-Bich Dong, Ninh Binh Province is also famed for its specialties made of goats that live on limestone mountains.
Goát raising for meat is not only popular in Ninh Binh province but also in other neighboring provinces. However, the province's goat meat is said to be second to none because of the very special flavor that comes from the way the goats are fed.
Since goats are free, they feed on natural herbs and plants on the limestone mountains that were formed over millennia. What goats absorb makes their meat tender and very lean.
In particular, the smell of meat is not as strong as goats raised in other regions.
According to local chefs, goats weighing between 15 and 20 kg each are the best meat. Ninh Binh province offers dozens of different dishes made from goat meat.
The most delicious among them is goat blood soup, five-spice grilled goat meat, ginger steamed goat meat, goat hot pot, goat porridge, to name but many.
To enjoy the specialties of the province, visitors can go to restaurants in the area around Trang An, Tam Coc cave or at the foot of Hoa Lu mountain.
