Staff know which guest is having an affair, but they often pretend they don't know because it's a request of the hotel.
One traveler posted on the forum Reddit the question: "What things do 5-star hotels do not want tenants to know?". After only a week of posting, the question received a huge number of responses: more than 13,800 comments. Here are the most mentioned ones.
A person named Witcher WallStreet shared: "Never trust the cleanliness of the cups in the room. Cleaning staff will sometimes wipe them with a washcloth used in the bathroom. Because their goal is to make the room look clean." This person said that he used to work as a housekeeping in a leading luxury resort in the world for many years.
Another concurred: "It doesn't matter if the room costs $1,000 a night, they still wash their tea cups in the bathtub or the sink."
Many hotel staff have discussed this problem. In fact, bed bugs don't just appear in budget hotels. "At some point, every hotel has bed bugs. It's not the hotel's fault, we've noticed that international travelers tend to bring them from place to place."
Another staff member shared: "When you check in, you should never put your luggage on the bed. When you arrive, turn off the lights, store your luggage in the bathroom. Then you flip the bed sheet at the top of the mattress. up, because bed bugs tend to congregate there, but it disperses when there's light. If you find bed bugs, you can ask the hotel to change rooms."
At the buffet dining room for guests, there is usually a chocolate waterfall to serve everyone's dining needs. But according to some hotel staff, this is something they almost never want to touch. "Imagine a child holding a strawberry they bit into half, and dipping into that chocolate waterfall, then biting, again dipping ... Besides, many guests accidentally stood next to it and sneezed."
The little fresh avocados served in the hotel are appealing. But in fact, many of the avocado balls are frozen butter, arranged in a plastic pot that doesn't look romantic at all.
"I don't know about all 5 star hotels, but I'm sure this happens in most of them", said a hotel employee named NaniBakaNani Write. The front desk will basically look up the image of that VIP guest, and share it internally to make sure everyone can recognize it. This helps guests feel that they are treated special.
Late-night check-in means you can easily get a free room upgrade, or a discount, according to Mrkse7e, a former hotel employee. "We always try to sell available rooms at the end of the day, with prices that can be reduced by up to 80%."
Sometimes if the hotel has sold out of regular rooms, people who arrive at midnight will get a free room upgrade, because the hotel has no other choice. Of course this can also backfire if the hotel is full, and you may have to stay in a less beautiful room.
Many hotels have rules that require employees to "turn a blind eye" to this, because "it's none of their business". The duty of the staff is to serve guests attentively, guide guests to follow the rules as well as bring safety to guests during their stay.
An employee said that her hotel had a rare case when both husband and wife took him here to rest. The staff all knew about this, but they kept quiet.

"A few years ago, my hotel welcomed Lady Gaga. When fans found out about this, they rushed to the hotel to meet the idol, get autographs, take pictures. The chaotic crowd caused us to Lady Gaga is aware of this, she has posted on her personal page asking her fans to behave politely and not lose control, she even ordered pizza from the kitchen to invite people waiting outside.
