Currently, the city has vaccinated against Covid-19 for 35% of the population and workers over 18 years old and is in need of 250,000 - 300,000 more doses. The leader also said that only when there are enough vaccines in September, the pilot plan to welcome international guests will be guaranteed. The ministry agreed with the provincial Party Committee to propose the Ministry of Health and the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control to separately allocate to Phu Quoc a sufficient amount of vaccine to inject the people and the workforce.
Minister Nguyen Van Hung requested that at least 90% of Phu Quoc people be vaccinated to ensure the safety of both residents and visitors. Any vaccine that is internationally recognized and licensed can be injected, and at the same time, further promote the application of technology to serve the reception of customers and open the market.

The plan to welcome international guests to Phu Quoc is expected to be implemented from October, the time may be adjusted depending on the reality. International visitors to Phu Quoc must have a certificate of full dose of Covid-19 vaccine or a certificate of recovery from Covid-19 recognized by a Vietnamese competent authority. For people who get vaccinated, the time to get the second dose is at least 14 days and not more than 12 months from the time of entry. Persons recovering from the disease from the time they are discharged from the hospital to the time they enter the country does not exceed 12 months. In addition, all visitors must have had a negative test result within the previous 72 hours.
International visitors must come from countries/regions with high safety in terms of Covid-19 prevention such as Northeast Asia, Europe, America, the Middle East, Australia... charter flight or phased commercial flight. After entry at Phu Quoc airport, visitors are taken to accommodation facilities, sightseeing, participating in services and tour packages.
